I feel like screaming when I hear the litany about how we no longer do face-to-face communication, how we are distancing ourselves by using
txt, etc...
The argument begins with: people used to just talk,... or, if they want to talk to me, they can call me,...
I understand only people that agree with me will ever be able to find this to read it, but I need to vent and rant a little.
1 - people used to just talk,... do you mean husbands talked to their wives while on board ship, crossing the Atlantic? Or parents talked to their children as the kids took off on the Oregon Trail? or Priests talked to their people they went on crusades? When is "used to"?
2 - they can call me,... well, there is a "used to" phones have been cursed a lot. Brain tumors, birth defects, demon cyphers, etc.
Now, let's say the world is steady size. America was a nice expansion area, because the people that leaked over there didn't get on TV for stealing land or anything. But, let's assume that isn't going to happen again. If we are going to expand, have more real estate, etc., we need to figure out ways to project the culture of the species. Not just what the down-trodden african american believes to be their culture, not just the white middle-aged male's ability to go to sporting events, not just the tea shop and nail's salons. The basic belief that Man is the A-Prime descendant and rightful heir to the throne of god.
So, relax on the whole "twitter is just a phase", "e-mail? I don't use it", "who blogs nowadays?". Understand that we are communicating, we are socializing, we are forming. We are evolving for the next step.
Be ready, or be extinct.
